Mick Showalter, Principal
Welcome to Journeys Academy! I am excited to start my fifth year as principal of Journeys Academy. This will be my thirtieth year in education. I am a graduate of the University of Toledo with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies Education. I have also earned a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.
I am a big sports fan, especially football. I enjoy watching Ohio State and Pittsburgh Steeler games.
Danton Thomas, Assistant Principal
Welcome to Journeys Academy! I am excited to start my third year as assistant principal at Journeys Academy. This will be my twenty-ninth year in education. I am a graduate of Florida A&M University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Counseling. I have also earned a Education Specialist’s degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.
I am a big sports fan, especially football, more specifically the Jacksonville Jaguars! I am very excited to work with our students and challenge them to transition back to their zone school better than when they transitioned to us.
Linda J. Gonzalez, Assistant Principal
I'm happy to be serving at Journeys a third year! This is my thirteenth year with Seminole County Public Schools. I have a Bachelor's of Science degree in Health Education and Human Behavior from the University of Florida. Go Gators! I also have a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Florida.
I have many interests and hobbies because I love learning new things! Most of all, I love spending time with my family, traveling and singing.
